Kuna Indian Hand-Stitch Paddle Master MoIa II-Panama 20081014mm
This Kuna Mola measures 18" x 13".
Folks, what we have here is a two-fisted paddle master. In the San Blas Islands the Kunas move between islands and the mainland in cayucos. Paddles are their means of locomotion. So I figure this fellow is bragging about his paddle mastery. It's that... or he's got a couple of bottles of scotch.
Sometimes I'm asked why molas frequently come in pairs. The answer is because molas are made to decorate the Kuna blouse. One on the front and the other on the back. There are always some differences but they are pairs or mates.
And the good news is I have a mate. 200810013m.
