Molas in the Special Background category sport a special background material. The artist built her mola on that piece of cloth incorporating the colors and design into her mola.

This is an old design strategy that was employed back in the 1950's-1980's. So the molas and the designs are also vintage or old. It is all in the eye of the beholder... just like it is with any art piece.

There are quite a few that have mates or even up to four similar molas. I figure the artist just kept on making the same mola design until she ran out of the background material.

The background material adds much to this mola.
