Wounaan Indian Woven Monkey Mask-Panama 20020406mm

This multi-colored Monkey Mask is another example of the artist talent in Panama. It measures about 13" from the chin to the back of the head and is about 10" across.

This little rascal has the cutest face and a mountain of chunga. Chunga is the fiber the artists use to make these masks. It is also used for their baskets.

The quality in this mask is most evident in the changing of colors to get the multi-colored look. This is extremely time consuming. I tried to use the photos to tell the story.

These masks are woven by the same artists that make the famous Panama baskets.
