Wounaan Embera Dyed Frog Tagua Carving Art-Panama 15103012L

Frog tagua carvings are perhaps the most popular of our tagua carvings. I think it is because there are so many different frogs. This particular carving is old. There was a time in the 1990's when the artists were busy using their wives natural dyes on their white tagua carvings. The women made the dyes for their basket fibers but the fellows found that the dyes worked wonders on their carvings. I wish they would go back to doing this, but I don't interfere in their artistic talents.
