Wounaan Embera Sea Turtle Tagua Carving-Panama 16033106L

Now who doesn't love a turtle..? This is an old carving that I suppose I have had for 25 years. It was dipped in a dye made by boiling cocobolo wood chips. The dyes are made by the women artists that weave baskets. They use it to color their chunga fiber. So a few of their family members that carve tagua decided to dip a few carvings to see the result. It works well and adds a nice touch.
