Wounaan Indian Tagua Carved Apple Pendant-Panama 21072225L
Folks, what we have here is a nearly vintage tagua carving of an Apple. It's a long story. Back in the good ole days in the Panama Canal Zone when the place was rift with American teachers my friends told me I ought to get the Indians to carve a few tagua apples. Sounded reasonable so I put the word out. I couldn't stop the harvest. Tagua apples were coming out of the weeds at an ever increasing rate. Then the rascals started on cocobolo wood apples. I had a storage problem.
That was 20 years ago. These are some that made it here in the bottom of a box of baskets. So when I came across them I thought... we're close to Christmas and folks are thinking stocking stuffers. So here they are... first come, first served. I'll look for some more. This one has the shuck or outer covering of the tagua nut on it.
Oh, size... someone is sure to write. 1.5" x 1.5".
Every tagua carving is a one-of-a-kind treasure.
